This console application allows you to quickly and easily modify your hosts file entries for ease of development, testing and deployment of applications. If you develop network applications, you know that the hosts file is an indispensable testing tool. Working with the hosts file, on the other hand, is an annoyance. Now you can use the Hosts Manager to make this task much easier.
HostsManager supports a series of operations on the hosts file, each taking only a single
command from the console. Functionality supported includes: a full dump of the hosts file
to the console, adding and removing of hosts entries, nicknaming entries, and even on the fly
enabling and disabling of entries.
Using host nicknames you can easily refer to an extended host entry (e.g. www.yourserver.com) using
a shorthand format (e.g. www). Couple this with enabling and disabling functionality and you get
the ability to change your testing environment in true SpiffyWare simplicity.
